From November 6 to 9, 2023, the sunny city of Nice played host to the Career Garden project, an innovative initiative bringing together 20 participants from Austria and Germany, as well as students and teachers from the Lycée Jeanne et Paul Augier in Nice.
Among them were chefs, teachers, students and professional coordinators working in the vast field of hotels, restaurants and tourism.
The event, “Chefs in the Garden,” brought together these key players in the sector to share experiences, discuss the specifics of their respective professions and explore innovative learning methods. The main objective was to facilitate a fruitful exchange on mutual expectations regarding the internship process, thus fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s needs.
The international aspect of this event offered participants a unique opportunity to interact with hospitality professionals in France, particularly in Nice. Lively discussions took place with French internship coordinators and students who had already experienced professional mobility abroad as part of their studies.
Among the highlights of the event, participants enjoyed an exclusive tour of the prestigious Negresco in Nice. They had the opportunity to meet and talk with the hotel’s manager, taking a behind-the-scenes look at how a luxury hotel is run. Discussions covered various aspects of the profession, from internships in luxury hotels to the day-to-day challenges faced by industry professionals.
In addition to enriching exchanges, the event strengthened ties between participants and laid the foundations for future collaborations. Teachers were able to share innovative teaching ideas, students gained valuable insights into their future careers, and professionals had the opportunity to highlight recent developments in their sector.
The Career Garden project, through its “Chefs in the Garden” initiative, proved to be an event that encouraged knowledge sharing and the strengthening of professional networks within the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry.
