The Faculty of History trains highly qualified specialists for the education and historical research in Romania. The graduates of The Faculty of History may embrace various careers: teachers (in the school system or higher education), researchers, museum curators, archaeologists, archivists, journalists, librarians, political analysts, public clerks (in national and international establishments).
The main research fields are World History (a field carrying on a tradition dating to the foundation of the Faculty); Prehistory and Ancient Archaeology (in this field, mostly at archaeological sites, it has developed a genuine school with national and international recognition); editing the sources of the Romanian middle ages; historical genealogy; political history of the Romanian Principalities/Romania; history of international relations and totalitarian regimes. At the same time, in recent years, new directions have been outlined, in agreement with the latest historiographical evolutions: social and mental collective history, history of culture and ideas, urban history, historical anthropology, social history of the Romanian diplomacy, propaganda, etc.
